Once the seminar is filled, additional names will be placed on a waiting list for the
next seminar.

Whether you have been writing for as long as you can remember, or if you just
began writing and enjoy it, you are strongly encouraged to attend. Please bring a
sample of your writing, whether poetry, prose, or story. Dr. Hilberry will guide
each student individually in his/her writing development. The joy of creative writing, the guidance of an inspirational writing expert, and the
encouragement of a professional teaching staff will contribute to your successful
writing experience and to the pleasure of self-expression.

Three morning sessions (Mon, Tues, & Wed 10:30 - noon) provide instruction in
imagination, observation and poetic skills.

A Friday evening program open to parents, teachers, and the Kalamazoo community
will showcase student writings and recitations, recitations by Dr. Conrad Hilberry,
and a performance by Mike and Tammy Willis on the cajone (African drum) and
musical interpretation of student poetry. It is a night to honor students and to
present each one with a compilation booklet of all the compositions written during
this seminar. This may be their first “publication” and one to treasure for the rest
of their lives. A reception follows the program.

All materials provided. Please bring a sample of your writing.
