Rhyme and Write
Open to all Kalamazoo Middle School students,
Grades 6 - 8
Whether you have been writing for as long as you can remember, or if you just began writing and enjoy it, you are strongly encouraged to attend. Please bring a sample of your writing, whether poetry, prose, or story. Dr. Hilberry will guide each student individually in his/her writing development.
The joy of creative writing, the guidance of an inspirational writing expert, and the encouragement of a professional teaching staff will contribute to your successful writing experience and to the pleasure of self-expression.
Three morning sessions provide instruction in imagination, observation and poetic skills.
An evening program open to parents, teachers, and the Kalamazoo community will showcase student writings and recitations, recitations by Dr. Conrad Hilberry, and a performance by Dr. Betsy Start on the cello of her musical interpretation of Dr. Hilberry’s poetry. It is a night to honor students and to present each one with a compilation booklet of all the compositions written during this seminar. This may be their first “publication” and one to treasure for the rest of their lives. A reception follows the program.
All materials provided. Please bring a sample of your writing.
